So far, two main types of downshifting systems (DS) for photovoltaic applications have been investigated: luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) and luminescent DS (LDS) layers. Although they are based on the same physical principle, which is the emission of one lower energy photon upon absorption of one higher energy photon, these two approaches present specific technological differences that characterize their final use. In the following sections, both these DS strategies are thoroughly discussed, with practical examples specifically focusing on the use of photo-curable fluoropolymeric systems in different PV technologies.

Abstract
So far, two main types of downshifting systems (DS) for photovoltaic applications have been investigated: luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) and luminescent DS (LDS) layers. Although they are based on the same physical principle, which is the emission of one lower energy photon upon absorption of one higher energy photon, these two approaches present specific technological differences that characterize their final use. In the following sections, both these DS strategies are thoroughly discussed, with practical examples specifically focusing on the use of photo-curable fluoropolymeric systems in different PV technologies.Pubblicazioni consigliate
