Abstract
Cinema architecture can be regarded as industrial monuments. They have contributed and have witnessed profound changes that have affected society in early twentieth century. The cinema, initially regarded as a curiosity, is in-tended to entertain the public by offering leisure time cheaply, while exerting "a highly educative function" without requiring a big effort by the public. "The whole of humanity, child or adult, […] can find pleasure and interest, and these, depending on the viewer's brain, will be exercised on the imagination or on the reason, as factors of cultural and spiritual uplifting". Italy, and in particular the city of Turin, has a rich heritage of cinema architec-tures, which unfortunately are not always well preserved because of their on-going disposal. Today, it appears important to ensure, through the development and implementation of appropriate projects of active protection, conservation and transmission to future generations of these cultural testimonies, otherwise destined to be irremediably lost. It is therefore necessary to provide for a reallo-cation of their proper use since the only way you can "replace the restoration, and occasionally act in some way traumatic, with assiduous maintenance works”.Pubblicazioni consigliate
