The essay deals with viability infrastructures role as generators of construction and perception ways of inhabited landscapes. Goal of the research is to afford infrastructure design as landscape design issue. In this meaning, two main fields have been developed. The first concerns landscape/infrastructure contemporary culture: it has been analyzed a broad range of studies focused on the relationship between infrastructure design and contemporary landscape, in particular in North American and English culture, in order to point out different design strategies and tools. The second concerns some landscape/infrastructure figures: relationship among different kind of infrastructures (i.e. highways, commercial strips …) and landscapes has been studied, by means of analysis of a large number of projects and realizations.
