The chapter introduces our research with innovative methods and technologies for urban and regional design, using integrated micro-simulation models, with the aim of comparing different possible scenarios of territorial development and mobility layout. We analysed how development paths might be modified at a metropolitan or regional scale so that the designs of the transformations could be matched with general aims taken as guidelines — the design scenarios. Simulation of the scenarios is in fact a way of checking for deviations and contradictions and initiating potential processes of open learning.

Abstract
The chapter introduces our research with innovative methods and technologies for urban and regional design, using integrated micro-simulation models, with the aim of comparing different possible scenarios of territorial development and mobility layout. We analysed how development paths might be modified at a metropolitan or regional scale so that the designs of the transformations could be matched with general aims taken as guidelines — the design scenarios. Simulation of the scenarios is in fact a way of checking for deviations and contradictions and initiating potential processes of open learning.Pubblicazioni consigliate
