L'iconografia tradizionale tra schizzi e vedute

Il saggio prende in esame il ruolo svolto attraverso i secoli dal disegno a mano libera nel rilevare e rappresentare il tessuto urbano. Attraverso una serie di esempi significativi vengono evidenziati i primi tentativi agli albori dell’età moderna e le realizzazioni nel Cinque e Seicento, man mano sempre più affidabili come riscontro della realtà (pur con fasi alterne), per giungere ai più “scientifici” approcci nell’Età dei lumi e ai documenti tipici del Realismo ottocentesco. Il contributo si conclude con l’esame di alcuni disegni a mano libera, significativi nella fase analitica del rilievo urbano, inteso nella sua vasta accezione contemporanea. I vari tipi di approccio all’analisi preliminare dei luoghi (dall’impatto emotivo all’individuazione degli elementi tipizzanti o dei caratteri funzionali) contribuiscono, integrandosi con successivi approfondimenti, ad impostare un rilievo, del costruito e delle sue pertinenze, che ne dà una immagine complessa e reale, rilevandone anche gli aspetti più nascosti. This essays examines the role played over the centuries of freehand drawing in surveying and representing urban fabric. A series of significant examples are used to highlight the first attempts at the very start of the modern era and works created during the 16th and 17th centuries, which become gradually more reliable as evidence of the then reality (although in alternating phases), to reach the more "scientific" approaches of the Enlightenment and the typical documents of 18th-century realism. The contribution concludes with the examination of a number of freehand drawings, which have significant relevance in the analytical stage of urban surveying, in terms of its vast contemporary connotations. The various types of approach to preliminary analysis of places (from their emotional impact to identification of typifying elements or functional characteristics), integrated with subsequent, more in-depth analysis, contribute towards establishing a survey of the building and its accessories, which gives it a complex and genuine image, and also enables identification of more hidden aspects.
