A study of the conditions of preservation of many unplastered earthen buildings in Italy and in the Piedmont region in particular revealed the need to test out treatments for the protection and/or strengthening of the walls of such buildings, still in good conditions, in order to improve their resistance against the aggressive action of exterior agents without having to cover them with plaster. A testing campaign, including capillary absorption and erosion, performed on blocks made of earth, made it possible to assess the effectiveness of the different treatment modalities envisaged.

Abstract
A study of the conditions of preservation of many unplastered earthen buildings in Italy and in the Piedmont region in particular revealed the need to test out treatments for the protection and/or strengthening of the walls of such buildings, still in good conditions, in order to improve their resistance against the aggressive action of exterior agents without having to cover them with plaster. A testing campaign, including capillary absorption and erosion, performed on blocks made of earth, made it possible to assess the effectiveness of the different treatment modalities envisaged.Pubblicazioni consigliate
