Design intended and used as a flexible tool for interpreting che changes in contemporary society. Such is the basis of this publication summarising the research directions of the Turin Politecnico group, which are many faceted but have a common aim: man, the man in subject of design work, that is, at the centre of design. Good design has always paid special attention to the final user, but in this case man, the inhabitant and user, is the stated focus of the design and of the present and future designer, who is directed by way of research aimed at a new cultural humanism.
