Optical communications and networking are fast becoming the solution to support ever-increasing data traffic across all segments of the network, expanding from core/metro networks to 5G/6G front-hauling. Therefore, optical networks need to evolve towards an efficient exploitation of the infrastructure by overcoming the closed and aggregated paradigm, to enable apparatus sharing together with the slicing and separation of the optical data plane from the optical control. In addition to the advantages in terms of efficiency and cost reduction, this evolution will increase the network reliability, also allowing for a fine trade-off between robustness and maximum capacity exploitation. In this work, an optical network architecture is presented based on the physical layer digital twin of the optical transport used within a multi-layer hierarchical control operated by an intent-based network operating system. An experimental proof of concept is performed on a three node network including up to 1000 km optical transmission, open re-configurable optical add & drop multiplexers (ROADMs) and white-box transponders hosting pluggable multi-rate transceivers. The proposed solution is based on GNPy as optical physical layer digital twin and ONOS as intent-based network operating system. The reliability of the optical control decoupled by the data plane functioning is experimentally demonstrated exploiting GNPy as open lightpath computation
engine and software optical amplifier models derived from the component characterization. Besides the lightpath deployment exploiting the modulation format evaluation given a generic traffic request, the architecture reliability is tested mimicking the use case of an automatic failure recovery from a fiber cut.

The Voltammetry-Based Sensing (VBS) methods are extremely interesting due to high specificity in several biochemical applications. Several considerations can be applied to use this method to measure different analytes, and implement efficient and optimized electronic measurement platform for point-of-care diagnostic, in wearable, portable, or IoT systems. The dataset contains the data presented in [1], which proves on real experimental data a method to define the optimized setup to develop efficient and electronic bio-sensing platforms. Namely, the dataset contains Scan Cyclic Voltammetry (SCV) and Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV) waveform, obtained from APAP (Paracetamol) samples, considering different sampling rate.

This work contains data gathered by a series of sensors (PM 10, PM 2.5, temperature, relative humidity, and pressure) in the city of Turin in the north part of Italy (more precisely, at coordinates 45.041903N, 7.625850E). The data has been collected for a period of 5 months, from October 2018 to February 2019. The scope of the study was to address the calibration of low-cost particulate matter sensors and compare the readings against official measures provided by the Italian environmental agency (ARPA Piemonte). The database proposed has been designed as general enough to handle not only PM measures plus temperature and relative humidity but also almost any other quantity, such as altitude, wind speed and direction, radioactivity, electromagnetic pollution, etc.
The total size of the database is about 50GB of time-stamped data. The directory also contains several useful scripts that can be used to perform the calibration and the analysis of the acquired data, such as plotting graphs, displaying the correlation with the reference values, printing measurement errors, etc. The scripts implement two commonly used calibration techniques, namely Multivariate Linear Regression and Random Forest, resorting to the SciKitLearn Python library.
The README files included in the main subdirectories report hints and comments on the data set format and the logic of the scripts. Please refer to them for further details. Please note that, following article 18.5 of Italian Decree 155/2010 on the dissemination of air quality data, which absorbs EU directive 2008/50/CE, ARPA Piemonte (http://www.arpa.piemonte.it/english-version) can not be ascribed for any mistake in these data, that can not be considered official, unlike the ones provided by ARPA itself.

Performance of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) based on IEEE 802.15.4 and Time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) has been shown to be mostly predictable in typical real-world operating conditions. This is especially true for performance indicators like reliability, power consumption, and latency. This article provides and describes a database (i.e., a set of data acquired with real devices deployed in a real environment) about measurements on OpenMote B devices, implementing the 6TiSCH protocol, made in different experimental configurations. A post-analysis Python script for calculating the above performance indicators from values stored in the database is additional provided. The results obtained by applying the script to the included database were published in [1], which contains more details than those reported in this short presentation of the dataset. Data and software are useful for two main reasons: on the one hand the dataset can be further processed to obtain new performance indices, so as to support, e.g., new ideas about possible protocol modifications; on the other hand, they constitute a simple yet effective example of measurement technique (based on the ping tool and on the accompanying script), which can be customized at will and reused to analyze the performance of other real TSCH installations.

Recently, the coronavirus pandemic has made the use of facial masks and respirators common, the former to reduce the likelihood of spreading saliva droplets and the latter as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). As a result, this caused problems for the existing face detection algorithms. For this reason, and for the implementation of other more sophisticated systems, able to recognize the type of facial mask or respirator and to react given this information, we created the Facial Masks and Respirators Database (FMR-DB).
The database consists of 2565 images taken from the Internet, divided into the following main classes:
With Facial Mask or Respirator
Disposable Respirators With Valve
Disposable Respirators Without Valve
Full-Face Respirators
Half-Face Respirators
Non-Medical Masks
Surgical Masks
Without Facial Mask or Respirator
With Occlusions
Hands On Mouth
Hats
Neck Warmers And Bandanas
Sunglasses
Without Occlusions
Images depicting people wearing a mask or a respirator also have a classification on the additional protective clothing worn: eye protection, head protection or both. The images depicting people wearing disposable respirators are also classified according to the respirator protection class.

Mask detection is a task in where it is wanted to detect whether a person is wearing a mask or not. It seems like a simple problem, but some facets, such as the fact that people wear such masks and respirators in a multitude of ways, are often ignored and trivialized to the worn/not worn case.
The Ways To Wear a Mask or a Respirator Database (WWMR-DB) is a test database that can be used to compare the behavior of current mask detection systems with images that most closely resemble the real case. It consists of 1225 images divided into 8 classes, depicting the most common ways in which masks or respirators are worn:
- No Mask Or Respirator
- Mask Or Respirator Worn Correctly
- Mask Or Respirator Under The Nose
- Mask Or Respirator Under The Chin
- Mask Or Respirator Hanging From One Ear
- Mask Or Respirator On The Tip Of The Nose
- Mask Or Respirator On The Forehead
- Mask Folded Above The Chin
Each image has two label files: one in PascalVOC format and one in YOLO format. These files contain the bounding boxes of the face of the person, the mask or the respirator, and both.

Urban Morphology Ontology

Urban Morphology Ontology (UMO) is a way of reading the contemporary city, highlighting the components (‘concepts’ in the broader definition of a generic ontology) and the relationships among them. The components are defined as urban elements. The purpose of this interpretation is to define a set of entities, and the relations between them, that can be used to describe and to compose urban fabrics.
UMO offers a vocabulary of the domain composed by the urban objects and their properties; the knowledge of spatial and composition relationships defines the constraints that regulate the possibilities of combination of the single objects into urban fabrics.
UMO implements four reference classes that map the hierarchical main morphological levels of objects:
Root class: Geometrical families. This class tries to divide the urban space elements starting from their intrinsic dimensional nature: lines (i.e. elements with a standard cross section, developed along a path, like the streets), surfaces (i.e. every open and non-covered space), volumes (i.e. every building over covered space). This class contains also a primary distinction between the public/private conditions (for the linear elements and the surfaces), and between the closed or open volumes.
Subclass 1: Functional families. In this class of the Urban Ontology there is a distinction among the main functional families of the elements, such as building, green etc.
Subclass 2: Architectural typologies. This class articulates the typological peculiarities of the entities, such as semi-detached building or office block etc.
Subclass 3: Distribution type / internal organisation. In this last class there are some information about the details of the structural schemes (e.g. single, double o multiple span) or about the internal organisation of the entities. This last class matches with the dimensional features, specified for every single element.
UMO implements five different types of relationships between class individuals:
• hypernym-hyponym relationships (subclasses and superclasses);
• holonym-meronym relationships;
• pertinence relationships;
• spatial relationships;
• size relationships.
