Integrated demand-side and production optimization of complex district heating (DH) and cooling networks is essential to improve the performance of DH and cooling networks. The goal of demand side management of district heating users is to find the best set of anticipation time of the buildings, which is done through the application of genetic algorithm. production optimization of complex DH and cooling networks is performed to determine, given a set of production units, which ones must be switched on in order to minimize an OF and this is achieved by implementing linear programming algorithm. Improvements can be further enhanced by enlarging the flexibility of end-users.
