The contribution aims to illustrate a path of knowledge aimed at defining projects to enhance the castle of Rivoli. The Savoy residence, known as the “unfinished Juvarra’s residence”, is characterized by a design process that allows, if analyzed in its complexity, both to restore the unified image of the project, in its many components, both the political and cultural relations with the territories beyond the Alps. In particular, the existing architectural elements find in the path of knowledge the opportu- nity to be contextualized diachronically compared to what was unfortunately not realized, part of the building and the large spaces of the garden, and therefore more understood. The knowledge of the sources, their historical-critical analysis and their enhancement represent a fundamental moment to enrich and complete the enjoyment of the Savoy residence. In this sense, the knowledge and the communication of the contents that derive from it represent the only essential instrument for the transmission of the values of the good in their complexity. The contribution will illustrate how the knowledge base becomes a fundamental and indispensable support to guide the possible design choices aimed at enhancing the value of the good. Recalling the importance of knowledge, but also of the usability of the contents that derive from it, we recognize the role that it plays in the transmission of good to the future and how it contributes to the preserva- tion of a good that, although ‘unfinished’, deserves to be preserved and handed down not as a mate- rial fragment but in its complexity and its wealth of cultural values.
