One of the big challenges of construction industry is to reduce the use of cement in new concrete structures for environmentally purposes. Thus, geopolymer concrete structures have been largely investigated in the last years. However, mechanical and ecological performances are normally not combined in the above analyses. For this reason, a more effective eco-mechanical procedure is herein introduced with the aim of tailoring eco-friendly concrete with acceptable mechanical performances. The proposed approach has been applied to some low-calcium fly ash based geopolymer concretes (LCFG). As a result, the LCFGs show better structural and environmental performances than ordinary Portland cement concrete (OPC), especially under compressive loads.
