Dating back to the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Piedmont's rich network of secondary railway lines has undergone a progressive transformation over the years. The conditions that originally encouraged the development of these lines have greatly changed. On the other hand, a series of calamitous floods have permanently compromised the viability of the transport system. The Torino-Ceres railway line, which links the capital of Piedmont to the Lanzo Valleys, falls within this context. Reference is made to this route to suggest a visit through space and time. The purpose is to bring out the process behind the system with the aid of iconographic sources, thus tracing a path between physical and virtual reality. Modern technologies can be an effective tool to transmit diachronic knowledge since they can represent and communicate the features of a cultural heritage, both material and intangible, that has been forgotten or strongly undermined.
