Abstract

The paper analyzes the bridges, as architectural structures connecting the various areas of Provence. They are the recurrent element that creates the unity of the whole of the variegated territory. For a long period of time, the structural organization and composition of the same, using materials found on site and the technical expertise of ancient memory, handed down through the centuries. Built of wood, stone, brick, concrete, these works testify to the skill of designers and manufacturers, but also tell us the historical events of a people. The diversity of these structures scattered throughout the territory, whether they are integrated in the urban or isolated in rural areas often remarkable landscape value, helps to give added value to the perception of the area and consequently the image of identity of places. Retain the means keeping as much as possible, use patterns within the parameters for which it was designed. It also means care and knowledge of the territory since their presence is directly related to the tourist itineraries, with architectural, historical and cultural interest (Via Domitia, Chemin de Pèlerinage, Route Napoleon, Route de la Lavande, Sentiers de Randonnée). It is necessary to value them, their works be it, with the appropriate actions to disseminate.
