Abstract

The work aims to show an analysis method for the architectural survey to organize a multilevel cognitive approach, taking as a founding principle the survey itself, confirmed as complex environment, integrated and layered over time, by its own nature. Consequently, the proposed method is the result of researches and subsequent testing for over twenty years can only deal with the practice of measuring; at the same time it can be related with other issues (such as documentation and sources, analysis of constitutive processes, representation and communication, regulatory and economic evaluations references) that select criteria, rules and parameters that allow the critical selection of typifying elements. The procedural model called Logical Project Survey [10], structured as a database matrix, shows intense similarities with established disciplinary approaches and at the same time constantly updated in relation to techniques and tools. This protocol is here revised and renewed through the testing of the latest Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies, virtual environments (and virtually shared information) where the graphics and information components are inextricably related through the management of implementable database. Regarding to the latest debates and researches it is therefore proposed to explore new forms of cataloguing Cultural Heritage for knowledge and dissemination and even more as a tool easily accessed to the different professionals involved in the following interventions of conservation and restoration.
