Abstract
The degradation of the agricultural landscape represents a loss of cultural inheritance, and undermines the core values of the social milieu. The degradation includes the loss of traditional landscapes. As these disappear, the remaining traces are both the proof of collective expropriation, and the testament to lost memories and traditions. The Cabrei (“estate surveys”) of the Order of Malta consisted of detailed descriptions of the state of ecclesiastical properties, with systematic recognition of their boundaries, for complete knowledge in the administration of the territory. In the contemporary era, the Cabreo serve as a useful instrument, offering a vivid image of the agricultural landscape, describing the architectural and rural heritage in its original appearance and context, prior to the transformed states we now observe.Pubblicazioni consigliate
