On July 2015, the Italian SupremeCourt (Corte Suprema di Cassazione) made a request to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for a preliminary ruling. The request concerns data protection and the processing of personal information provided by the Italian Commercial Register. The article analyses the reasoning of the request and deals with the broader issues concerning the balance between data protection and access to public record.
