A control design approach for the autonomous crosswind flight of tethered wings, to be used in airborne wind energy systems, is described. The proposed technique aims to learn the behavior of a human pilot, by exploiting a finite number of data collected during manual operation of the system, hence avoiding the need for an explicit model of the system dynamics. Along with the design technique, experimental data showing its successful application are presented.

Abstract
A control design approach for the autonomous crosswind flight of tethered wings, to be used in airborne wind energy systems, is described. The proposed technique aims to learn the behavior of a human pilot, by exploiting a finite number of data collected during manual operation of the system, hence avoiding the need for an explicit model of the system dynamics. Along with the design technique, experimental data showing its successful application are presented.Pubblicazioni consigliate
