The San Martino high altar can be considered of particular interest even on the point of view of the marble typology used for his building, expecially if it can be compared with the production in the Savoy duchy - characterised by the presence, between XVIIth and XVIIIth century, of architects of European fame - in the thirty years which follows from Guarino Guarini’s death in 1683 to Filippo Juvarra’s settlement in Turin in 1714. The marble elements analysis develops on three different ways: the coherence between the stone used and still present and the contract dispositions, the employment of the same material in similar altars projected by Michelangelo Garove and Giovanni Valle, the comparison with other marble works in the same parish church: the Madonna del Rosario and the baptistery altars and the pulpit.
