EU 2020 Regional policy and territorial cohesion

The crisis, blown up in the financial side during the Autumn of 2008, has become soon the crisis of the real economy (productive, occupational and of consumptions), growing in a social and potitical slump which brings into question the development models that have typified the western world in the last decades, primarily represented by t,%e United 5tates of America and Europe. The vision of the Euro-pean Union oriented to 2020 should be mainly addressed toward a development model aimed at the following objectives: integration, territorial cohesion and governance. The challenge to face is to achieve territorial cohesion in order to establish a strong basis for the existence of the European Union. It is necessary to improve the networks and the power of the stakeholders in order to work the system as well as to increase the value of strengths and specificities. The above-mentioned considerations could be encouraged by the regard the IX Biennial allows both to towns and territorial relationships both to the innovation of town and territorial planning.
