A line termination net (LTN) suitable for overvoltage cancellation in PWM VSI induction motor (IM) drives is investigated, deriving reliable LTN sizing design criteria in the medium-to-high power range. Such an LTN concept has been successfully tested for small power IM drives, by defining analytical criteria which are of general validity. These ones here are applied to medium-to-high power drives accounting for the LTN power loss terms which are negligible in small power drives. The effectiveness of the proposed power loss terms model is experimentally tested on a reference 55 kW IM.

Abstract

A line termination net (LTN) suitable for overvoltage cancellation in PWM VSI induction motor (IM) drives is investigated, deriving reliable LTN sizing design criteria in the medium-to-high power range. Such an LTN concept has been successfully tested for small power IM drives, by defining analytical criteria which are of general validity. These ones here are applied to medium-to-high power drives accounting for the LTN power loss terms which are negligible in small power drives. The effectiveness of the proposed power loss terms model is experimentally tested on a reference 55 kW IM.
